S 97 Decluttering: A Spirituality of Less

Decluttering is a modern phenomenon. It is about divesting ourselves of possessions and living and travelling light in a society that is built around consumption and excess.

This study suggests that this is a practical process Christians should go through in the affluent Western World in order to be more effective witnesses to their faith. People in the Bible were closest to God when they lived counter-culturally, and we must do the same.

He was a visiting lecturer at the University of Winchester in Science and Religion in the 1990s, and is author of 'Quesions of Science' (Eastbourne: Kingsway, 1999).
