The idea of revival is a powerful, emotive one, the subject of both popular and academic reflection. But it has often sat uneasily with traditional understandings of mission.

This study proposes a new understanding of revivals as pulses of the life-giving Spirit of God, and explores how this understanding offers some radical new possibilities in understanding our role in God's mission.

William Porter has been in church ministry for 16 years, first as a team evangelist at Cliff College, then as a Methodist minister. He is leading a house of prayer ministry and fresh expression of church in Stoke-on-Trent. William's interest in revivals led him to complete a PhD in the subject through Sheffield University, and also to coordinate Ignite, a network for Charismatic church leaders.
