MEv 131 Hybrid Church: Blending Online and Offline Community (2020)


In every walk of life, the COVID-19 pandemic has presented challenges and opportunities like never before. For Christian ministry, it has forced us to get out of our buildings and find God in the wild.

This lively study paints a picture of a church without walls. It gives three case studies of how practitioners responded to their contexts with hybrid forms of engagement that enabled people to encounter God wherever they were, and accept his invitation to walk with him along the way.

Pete Phillips, a Methodist minister and Bible scholar, is Director of the Centre for Digital Theology at Durham University and Head of Digital Theology for Premier Christian Media.
