Richard Bauckham was until recently Professor of New Testament Studies in the University of St Andrews, Scotland, and is now Emeritus Professor in Cambridge.He studied at Cambridge, and taught there and in Manchester, before moving to St Andrews in 1992. He is a Fellow of the British Academy and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. He has been a major contributor to international New Testament scholarship in recent years. His attempts at relaxation include writing children's stories about the MacBears of Bearloch.
