The Book of Revelation is uniquely challenging to read for ethics. The variety of interpretations is so wide that it raises the question as to whether it even makes sense to talk of ‘the’ ethics of Revelation.
This study looks at some ways in which Revelation has been read ethically, and then turns to the text in detail to see whether it does in fact allow or resist certain ethical positions. The metaphorical nature of the book might not offer an ethic as such, but a paradigm for developing an ethic in our own particular context.
